On 14 December 2023, the UK government approved a new amendment to the Russia Sanctions (No. 4) Regulations 2023 and such restrictions will come into force at 00.00 on 15 December 2023. This amendment prohibits UK citizens from acquiring, importing, supplying and delivering metals of Russian origin. This amendment includes Russian brands that are listed on the London Metal Exchange, despite this, the UK government considers that there will be no significant impact on access to trading on the London Metal Exchange due to a trading license that was issued on 14 December 2023.
