On 16 September 2025, Lupicinio International Law Firm had the privilege of participating in the training session organised by the Institute of Compliance Officers (IOC), entitled: ‘European Union sanctions against Russia: Legal key points, regulatory compliance and current events in 2025’. The session offered a rigorous and up-to-date analysis of the European Union’s sanctions framework against Russia, structured in three modules. Among other issues, the session addressed regulatory developments and their material and sectoral scope; the legal and compliance risks arising from non-compliance; and the most recent case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union, together with relevant case studies in different Member States.
The session featured presentations by Professor José Luis Iriarte, an academic collaborator with our firm, as well as Fátima Rodríguez González-Chaves, head of the International, Criminal and Compliance departments, and Rocío Gras Algara, junior lawyer in the International and Compliance departments of our firm. All of them provided expert, academic and complementary insights into the legal and compliance challenges arising from the European Union’s restrictive measures against Russia.
