On 24 April 2025, an event was held in the convention hall of the Holiday Inn Hotel in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) to commemorate ‘WORLD BRAND DAY’, organised by the Dominican public institution ONAPI (Organización Nacional de Patentes industriales) -National Industrial Patent Organisation-. The event was attended by Jesús Salmerón Unturbe, Senior Counsel of the Firm and Director responsible for Latin America, representing Lupicinio International Law Firm, at the special invitation of the international law firm based in Santo Domingo, RUSSIN VECCHI & HEREDIA BONETTI.
The event featured a variety of very interesting presentations by all participants, highlighting the importance of the ‘brand’ as a distinctive element, both nationally and internationally. Likewise, the importance of regulation in this area as a means of defending the industrial and/or intellectual property of authors with respect to their various creations was also highlighted. For a more educational presentation of the interesting ideas discussed, intellectual property in musical creations was used as an example, and the exact name of the event was: ‘WORLD INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY DAY – Intellectual Property and Music: To the Rhythm of Intellectual Property’.

The meeting was of great interest and advocated for greater global protection of the legitimate rights of authors and creators.
