Gabriel has practised criminal law for more than twenty years, focusing on highly complex and high-profile criminal proceedings arising in the corporate and business sphere. In addition to his litigation practice, he advises companies on identifying, managing and mitigating their specific criminal compliance risks.

He is a Professor of Criminal Litigation on the Master’s Degree for Access to the Legal Profession at Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE), the Madrid Bar Association (ICAM) and Universidad San Pablo CEU. He also teaches on the Official Master’s Degree in Economic Criminal Law at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, within the GT Chair in Financial and Forensic Investigation, and on the Advanced Diploma in Criminal Litigation at the School of Legal Practice of Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM).

Gabriel is also the author of several leading legal works, including Código Penal Comentado (Commentary on the Spanish Criminal Code), Litigación Penal (Criminal Litigation), El hecho propio de la Empresa and La tutela de los derechos fundamentales de personas físicas y jurídicas en el proceso penal (The Protection of the Fundamental Rights of Individuals and Legal Entities in Criminal Proceedings), the latter providing a comprehensive analysis of the case law of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) and the Spanish Constitutional Court. All of these works have been published by Aranzadi La Ley.
