We share with you an interesting article published in the newspaper “El Pa\u00eds”<\/strong> on 12\/12\/2023 (page 39) by the journalist Daniele Grasso<\/strong>, who “specialises in data analysis and tries to tell the world through it”<\/em>. In his research, Grasso wanted to know the opinion of Jos\u00e9 Luis Iriarte, Professor of International Private Law at the<\/strong> Universidad P\u00fablica de Navarra <\/strong> and collaborator of the Lupicinio International Law Firm<\/strong>, on the functioning of international sanctions in the context of the system of transfers of football players between European and Russian clubs.<\/p>\n

In this context, Professor Iriarte, a renowned expert on international sanctions, considers that paying millions of euros to a football club owned by a person sanctioned by the European Union, either because he owns more than 50% of the club or because he is a subsidiary and therefore controls the assets, is “entering a minefield”<\/em> and “can be problematic”<\/em>, “since, in the absence of a clear interpretation by the Court of Justice of the European Union, it can be understood that it is an operation of very dubious legality”<\/em>.<\/p>\n
