Lupicinio International Law Firm has once again been recognized for the third consecutive year in the prestigious Chambers & Partners Latin American ranking. The Firm is ranked in band 2 of the commercial law category for its experience in Cuba. Likewise, the coordinator for Cuba, Imara Betancourt, has been mentioned as an  associate-to-watch in this jurisdiction.

Chambers & Partners legal guide, which since 1990 publishes one of the most prestigious international listings of law firms and lawyers, announced the outstanding firms of 2020, emphasizing the consolidated presence of Lupicinio International Law Firm in the country: “It is a company with a respected and long practice in Cuba. It assists clients with commercial agreements, joint ventures and the establishment of operations on the island, particularly in the Mariel Special Development Zone. It also advises banks on commercial loans to Cuban state-owned enterprises.”

Among the most relevant operation, it distinguishes the legal advice to the Development Bank of China with the revision of contracts and  concession of two loan agreements between the client and the National Bank of Cuba.

The same directory points out in its 2018 Latin America Guide that the firm “has a permanent presence in Havana that reassures the client to a great extent, since its advisory work is precise.” In 2019, the guide highlighted the Firm’s extensive knowledge of the Cuban market, making it a key contact for international companies requiring corporate assistance in the region.

The managing partner, Lupicinio Rodríguez, has reaffirmed the firm’s commitment to this jurisdiction: “The sector-centered experience of our international team ensures that we understand the industries and can adapt the advice to the real commercial problems at stake.

In Cuba, he highlighted the Firm’s specialization in a variety of sectors including infrastructure, energy (oil and gas, mining and renewable energy resources), health, banking, tourism, transportation and government services.
